Re: Tracks!

Even the touring center can have a backcountry feel, if you beat the groomer to it. Upper Bobcat at Trapp's this morning.

Re: Tracks!

After a pleasant morning skiing groomers, I went out to one of my favorite spots, Kettle Pond in Groton. From a capacity crowd to complete solitude, it is, as your young stoner likes to say, all good.

Re: Tracks!

Here's one from Sunday. Taken above Daniel's Notch looking back at Smuggs and Mt. Mansfield. That's an interesting perspective. I bushwhacked up Sterling Range Peak this summer and had a nice view south toward Daniel's Notch. It was apparent that there are personal lines scattered all over that ran...

Re: Tracks!

There's a tricky rain crust east of the Greens, but I managed to get off a few turns Saturday. I got spoiled by the past two winters - areas that were wide open powder fields last year are actually thickets of hobblebush. I came across fresh moose sign at around 3,000 feet, a yearling by the size of...

Re: Tracks!

Finally, some snow! I took a twilight tour behind the North Branch Nature Center in Montpelier last night. The city is sled-grooming trails for skiing, snowshoeing and fat biking. They even set classic track in the field behind the Center, which is cool. There are some nice little woods shots off of...

I’m hoping Bob and Robin will make it to Cannon this spring. I’m hoping some of his leathers and pins magic will rub off on me. I’ll give you a heads up if it happens.
Please do! I love Cannon in the springtime.

Hey, that's good to hear! I miss that crowd, particularly Robin and Bob. I don't miss getting up at 4:00 and coming home at midnight, or adjusting bindings in the freezing cold, but I do miss the people.

Re: Tracks!

Nice Bob. I skipped out of work after lunch and got some powder runs in at Stowe. It's not backcountry, but as you can see by the empty chairs, it almost felt like it. There's nothing like having a chairlift all to yourself.

Re: Tracks!

Bob, that is the K of legend, and can be skied from my door using VAST trails. Bit of a slog, but worth it. You'll have to come out some time.
