I was thinking, this may be a good time to scout for new and unknown secret places. I don't know about up north, but down here, trailheads to every well known trail/walk are super crowded. Maybe time for some off the trail reconnaissance.

I managed to have a pretty good day out in the greater Eastern Franconia feifdom. About 5" new over a decent base. As Dirk mentioned, there was a bit of a buried crust, but once i was above about 2'500 ft i didn't see too much of it. We could use another foot of snow... but at this point i'll take w...

The main portion of the Guido was logged about 7 years or so ago. A local(not me) saved the signs just before operations commenced. They were replaced a year or so ago and were still up as of last week. I think they were placed a bit higher on the trees, so they may not be as obvious. The original s...
