Nice Bob and Rob! Wish I could have joined you. A friend and I had an enjoyable tour in the Bolton backcountry yesterday. The woods are finally filling in a little, though it's still too thin for anything steep. But I'm perfectly happy poking around up in the Paradise Pass/Heavenly Highway network, which is where this photo was taken.

No headlamp dim moon Butterfield tour last night. Thank goodness conditions were sub-wonky because couldn't really see anything. Been arriving at the TH around 8:15. If I don't kick butt around the loop I won't make the grill cutoff time. No pain, no pancakes.

Any money B pulls the plug on the P&H syrup collection. Like today.

Some quick turns after work last night. Get em in before the Saturday. Weekend weather for north central VT is lousy.

Got in a twilight tour around the house last evening. It was swell. Full moon to boot!

Evocative twilight tour shots all around! Dirk, does the name of the hill we're looking at in that last pic start with a 'K'?

Desperately trying to get out today before meltdown. Encountered rain already while driving this morning! Crushing.

Bob, that is the K of legend, and can be skied from my door using VAST trails. Bit of a slog, but worth it. You'll have to come out some time.

Super jealous of the out-the-door potential in that view, Dirk!

Went out Friday night to survey the tragically melting snowpack.

Yup, it was tragic and melting. Happily the loggers have steered clear of this entire zone.

Went out two nights ago to xc-ski the refo'd Butterfield loop. 22F and blowing at the TH. Downshifted to 3 pins/98mm from NNN-BC/60mm thinking I would need all the help I could get ice skating. Ha. Double-poled 100 yards and barely avoided coming to a crashing halt in frozen snow machine crap. Abort, return to car, dog snack, home. Only prudent thing I've done all season.

HOWSOMEEVER... We's got some weather on the way!

spray foam everything!

Happily we outperformed the forecast here in low elevation VT with tons of perfect wet base-happy white stuff.

Nice Bob. I skipped out of work after lunch and got some powder runs in at Stowe. It's not backcountry, but as you can see by the empty chairs, it almost felt like it. There's nothing like having a chairlift all to yourself.

Smart move for a Friday, Dirk. I'm still in the saddle and not particularly enthralled with the single digit temps, but last night went to a WMNF TH and found that the spray foam of lower lands was medium density powder 1000' up. Managed to get a few decent turns in. Random pics.
