I like soloing because you can chicken out at any time and no one will know. What tour!? My legs are tired. The snow is rotten. Something doesn’t feel right. I’m just not feeling the love. Whatever. Abort! Sometimes I never even leave the house even though I’m packed and have a hall pass.
This tour wasn’t like that. I knew from the beginning that it would succeed and that yesterday was the day for it. It was actually kind of unsettling to tell you the truth. I left my whippets at home. I knew the snow was going to be cooperative. I knew I would find the head of the slide which is tricky. I knew these things in spite of not being able to pull this one off for over ten years! Really. That’s how long this line has been on my list.
Having done it though, I won’t do it again. It’s a stupid spruce choked line, but it was really sweet to pull off!
Step one. Spruce wrestle to the head of the slide.
Product placement.
Still looking for the head of the "slide". It can't be _this_ full of spruce, can it? Note the companion slide that is much more interesting. I've only been half way up that one and it's calling.
Ah ha. Find something that is about the right size for what I've seen on the sat photos. Make a Clif Bloc offering to the local deities. Snack on some myself.
And we're off!
Looking back up. The upper section was kind of insane.
Periodic linked turns.
Finally get spit out at the bottom.
Looking up at the "companion".
From here there is quite a stretch of super juicy half pipe.
Over the river and through the woods.
The headwall of the cirque in the sunlight behind. Such a wonderful place.
